Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Based in Mackay and reporting to the National Sales Manager-Coal, the duties and responsibilities associated with this role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead strategic business development initiatives to identify and secure new business opportunities within the QLD coal region.

  • Build, maintain, and enhance customer relationships through proactive account management and engagement with key decision-makers.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the technical sales team, ensuring alignment with company objectives and successful achievement of sales and profitability targets.

  • Actively promote Sandvik products by conducting technical presentations and demonstrations highlighting the advantages and applications of our ground support solutions.

  • Conduct regular customer site visits, including underground audits and pull testing, to ensure customer satisfaction and identify opportunities for product and service enhancement.

  • Prepare detailed reports analysing business performance, identifying market trends, and recommending corrective actions to support continuous business growth.

  • Negotiate sales and service contracts, manage working capital effectively, and maintain high levels of customer service consistent with agreed service levels.

  • Be prepared to undertake domestic travel and work underground as necessary to fulfil role requirements.

About You

  • Proven experience in underground mining, with specific expertise in coal mining, is highly advantageous.

  • Demonstrated understanding of ground support materials, practices, and application engineering.

  • Strong business development and customer account management capabilities with a track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to develop long-lasting customer relationships.

  • The capability to work autonomously, lead a team effectively, and deliver on strategic business objectives.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, suitable for technical product discussions and negotiations.

  • Tertiary qualifications in mining, engineering, or a related discipline are highly desirable.
