Senior Engineer – PPSC

Sandvik Mining & Rock Solutions (SMR) is a leading supplier in equipment and tools, services and technical solutions for the mining and construction industries. Our application areas include rock drilling, rock cutting, crushing, and screening, loading, and hauling, tunnelling, quarrying, and breaking and demolition. To our Rock Tools division and the Production Unit in Patancheru, we are now looking for a Senior Engineer – PPSC (Production Planning & Stock Control) to join us.

Your scope:

Develop, maintain, and optimize production schedules aligned with demand forecasts, capacity, and resource availability. Oversee material requirements while ensuring seamless integration of SAP S/4 HANA Production Planning (PP) and Materials Management (MM) modules with live manufacturing operations and the dynamic supply chain environment. Drive efficient resource utilization to meet customer demand, minimize costs, and maintain all stock types at optimal levels to support production needs while effectively controlling OSMI.

To be more specific, your main responsibilities to handle in this position are:

  • Safe working practices across all activities, processes, and projects in compliance Sandvik EHS policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, OHSAS 18000, ISO 14001 and SMRT procedures and Group Internal controls.
  • Plan, prepare, and manage daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on demand forecasts, plant capacity, and material availability through SAP S4/HANA system.
  • Execute MRP runs, analyze outputs (order releases, exception messages), and coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components for both MTO & MTS orders.
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods, maintain optimal stock levels in collaboration with stores/warehouse teams.
  • Control OSMI and ensure WIP inventory accuracy through Kanban planning, cycle counting, and periodic stock audits.
  • Meeting customer demand, minimizing costs, and achieving KPIs as per Annual performance plan (DTH Bits & Hammers / RC Hammers / Rotary Tools / Top Hammers Bits).
  • Implement, configure, and maintain SAP S4/HANA PP modules, including master data management (BOMs, routings, work canters and planning data). Troubleshoot SAP S4/HANA issues and identify process inefficiencies, provide training and support to end-users on SAP S4/HANA functionalities.
  • Collaborate with Product line/R&D, Engineering, Production, Quality, Sales, and Logistics teams to align plans and ensure timely customer deliveries.
  • Implement, monitor and track new product development, Product phase-in, phase-out and Engineering changes.
  • Participate in weekly/monthly meetings with Product line, Global planning, sales teams, align with S&OP outcome.
  • Adjust production plans and forecasts promptly based on global/local demand changes. Timely communication and alignment of plans to avoid disruptions.
  • Data Analytics -Develop and generate reports and KPIs on production status, inventory levels, and schedule adherence using SAP S4/HANA data. Support data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Accurate reporting and driving process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and SOPs related to PPSC.

Your profile:

Our candidate should have 5 years in production planning, inventory control, and SAP S/4 HANA PP/MM modules with relevant experience from a Manufacturing Engineering Industry

A Graduate Engineer within Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering is required. You have previously worked with strong EHS cultured organizations, and you understand the importance of a diverse workforce and collaborative settings

Competencies that we find necessary are:

  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes ((Engineering industry - Machining/Heat Treatment/Subcontracting), including discrete manufacturing, shop floor control, and resource utilization.
  • Proficient in SAP S4/HANA ERP systems, with strong expertise in PP and MM modules.
  • In depth understanding on various Planning methods, planning horizons and risk mitigation methods considering dynamic supply situations.
  • Knowledge of inventory control techniques and maintaining optimal stock levels.
  • Proficient in planning and scheduling tools, along with tools like MS Excel, Power BI for KPI tracking, trend analysis, and decision-making.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to identify production bottlenecks and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional and diverse teams across the globe.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills for handling multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
  • High adaptability and a proactive approach toward continuous process improvement and operational excellence.
